Privacy Policy

Monnei ("we", "our", or "us") is a personal finance tracking app for iOS and Android. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your name and email address through Clerk, our authentication provider. You may also sign in using a supported OAuth provider (e.g. Google), in which case we receive only the information that provider shares with us.
Financial Data You Enter
Monnei stores the financial data you manually enter into the app, including:
- Expense amounts, notes, dates, and categories
- Monthly budget limits per category
- Recurring transaction details (frequency, amounts, labels)
- Income information (optional, used for net flow calculations)
We do not connect to your bank, credit card, or any financial institution. All financial data is entered manually by you.
App Preferences
We store your app preferences on our servers, including your selected currency, notification settings, and theme preference, so they persist across devices.
Device & Usage Information
We may collect basic technical information such as your device type and operating system version for the purpose of bug fixing and app compatibility. We do not use analytics SDKs that track your behaviour across other apps or websites.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and operate the Monnei app and its features
- To send push notifications you have opted into (budget alerts, recurring reminders, weekly summaries)
- To process Premium subscription payments
- To power AI features for Premium subscribers (see Section 3)
- To respond to support requests you send us
3. Third-Party Services
Clerk — Authentication
We use Clerk to manage user accounts and sign-in. Clerk processes your email address and authentication credentials on our behalf. See clerk.com/privacy.
RevenueCat — Subscription Management
In-app purchases and Premium subscriptions are managed by RevenueCat. RevenueCat processes transaction data through the Apple App Store or Google Play on our behalf. See revenuecat.com/privacy.
OpenAI / Groq — AI Features (Premium only)
Premium AI features (AI Chat, AI Spending Analysis, AI Auto-Categorisation) send relevant portions of your expense data to either OpenAI or Groq to generate responses. We do not include your name, email, or other personally identifying information in these requests. Data sent to these providers is used solely to generate your requested response and is not used to train their models under our agreements.
Expo — Push Notifications
We use Expo's notification infrastructure to send push notifications to your device. Expo receives your device's push token to route notifications. See expo.dev/privacy.
4. What We Do Not Do
- We do not connect to your bank or any financial institution
- We do not sell your personal data to any third party
- We do not share your financial data with advertisers
- We do not use your data to serve targeted advertisements
5. Data Retention & Deletion
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time through the app's Settings screen, which will permanently remove all your data from our servers. You may also request deletion by emailing us at alpezed@gmail.com.
6. Data Security
Your data is stored in a secured database with access controls. The app supports biometric authentication (Face ID / Fingerprint) and an optional app lock PIN to protect access on your device. Sensitive tokens are stored using your device's secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore).
7. Children's Privacy
Monnei is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
